Yesterday, I posted the first of a weekly series of newsletters on Substack. These newsletter will highlight a past historical event, the heroes that played a role in it, and the place we recommend you visit to learn more.
The first newsletter is about the Battle of Britain in 1940. It's been 84 years, this week, since the Battle of Britain began. Nazi Germany was rushing through Europe. France was defeated and it's troops, along with the British narrowly escaped to England from Dunkirk.
England was firmly in Germany's sights and they launch a relentless aerial attack for several months to bring England to surrender. What Hitler expected to be an easy fight that would dominate the skies and open the country up for an amphibious attack, stalled with a standoff.
The Royal Air Force would fight with everything it had and the British citizens would stand up to endless nights of bombings. In the end, winter would set in and Germany would never get another chance at victory.
